No Puedo Prometerte Amor Mientras Me Desangro

(I Can’t Promise You Love When I’m Bleeding)

by Fernando Sabido Sánchez

No puedo prometerte amor mientras
me desangro, el amor heterosexual
que apeteces de un ser cuya naturaleza
es imprecisa
Intentarás entenderme y aflorarán
las mentiras, entretanto, puedo
enseñarte algunas fotografías antiguas
que no me incriminan

Quizá no sea del todo ilícito mostrar
las apariencias y regresar al prólogo
No confíes demasiado en poder revelar
los enigmas, aún eres muy joven para
encontrar respuestas a un comportamiento
que la sociedad juzgaría execrable

I Can’t Promise You Love When I’m Bleeding

It’s raining down sideways on my sexual self,
but unless I’m much mistaken, it’s alright,
a misspent body can yet be compatible
and share with an immaculate soul.
On the outside it’s really a beautiful night;
trouble is, I’ve still got blood dripping
from these puncture marks that
the serpent left behind.

So I can’t promise you love, leastways not
while I’m bleeding, the love you’re looking for
of the hetero kind, from someone whose own nature
is actually kind of vague.
You’ll try to understand me anyway, which is when
the lies start surfacing, but I guess
I can show you some old photographs
that don’t incriminate me meantime.

Look, maybe it’s not totally wrong to show your
true colours, and pick up again from the prologue.
Just don’t be too sure you’ll be exposing any enigmas,
you’re still pretty young after all, to be
finding answers for behaviour
that society itself would abhor

  1. El poema lo merece, Fernando y traducirlo es un reto nada fácil.
    Bien por ambos.
    Un besote.
